While pretty, snow and freezing temperatures can cause damage to your properties. The good news is, there are many ways to protect your property from winter storm damage.

  • Frozen Pipes: One of the most common winter concerns, when ice within pipes applies pressure to the insides of the pipe, it can be pressured to burst. If this happens, the area can flood quickly and will need to be remediated immediately.
  • Cracks or Collapse: Just one foot of snow on the average rooftop can weigh as much as 18,000 pounds. Extreme weight will pressure it to crack or even collapse, creating permanent structural damage. Icicles can also add weight to gutters causing them to break.
  • Leaks: When snow or ice melts, the water will flow to cracks and crevices in the windows, doors, roof, and other areas of least resistance. Water damage can happen and it only takes 24 hours before mold growth develops.
  • Ground Saturation: While snow on top of the structure can cause issues, snow on the ground can as well. When it starts to melt, it can seep into any cracks in the slab foundation and make its way to the basement.
